I think they go by what it was for. My neighbor could not get hired for drug use. She took the test and everything.

It will depend on the state.

In the first 2 states I checked, he would not be able to be a CNA. It is not a blanket prohibition on felons, it depends on the crime, but misappropriation of property was on the list.

it depends on the state but here in WI I can say there isn't a chance of working in healthcare.

Hate to break it to the rest of them, but most employers will fire you for lying about it on your app, instead of actually having the record. In our state, I know of several RNs that have records going way back thanks to wild and wooly days. They didn't lie on the apps, the company needs RNs desperately, everyone is happy..

With your person, it does depend on your state, and what his conviction actually was–misdemeanor, felony, whatever. If you have a felony conviction, you are going to do time. If he did no jail time for a so-called felony, that means he snitched on whoever he was dealing with, and therefore he probably also got it wiped from his record if his attorney had a brain at all. Therefore, his record is only with NCIC, which can be checked by law enforcement but not most employers.
