The law that created that position/ title was specific to long term care facilities (nursing homes)/ The CNA classes are specifically designed for long term care facilities. That is what the classes will be geared towards, and you will have your clinicals at nursing homes. Sometimes hospitals will hire people off the street and train them, but they usually prefer the CNA. Anyways, elderly people are the sickest so you will have to wash them in the hospital too. If you can't get passed old people smell (especially when your job is to keep them from getting stinky) you won't be able to do it. The Red Cross does the certification, check with them for their classes. Some vocational schools and community colleges also offer classes.
