Yes its true I did it myself the only catch is that the place where you are taking the class has you commit to working there after the training(basically your hired once your accepted into the actual class). After the training you will start working and get paid LESS(6.99/hr when i started) until after I passed the written and oral state test to get my certification) then my pay went up to (8.85/hr day shift)

You may have to travel to find a place to get you certified(I had to drive 30 minutes there and back) but its worth it once you've gotten certified. Do research in your area, go to nursing homes and ask if they offer classes,-if they don't then ask them if they know a place that does-my bet is that they will!

If you cant find any place that offers CNA classes then you may have to pay for it(costs over $400 here.) But I bet you'll find something and its worth traveling for.

Being a CNA is very hard work, stay committed and dont give up!
Good Luck to you!

I am currently working at two of the nursing homes where I live (Ga.) We have three in town, and none of them offer CNA classes. The local college here offers classes. Also, the allied health classes at the High School offer a good start for CNA's. I can't say if this is true of all nursing homes, but the 6-7 that I know do not offer this.
References :
yes it is true...almost every one of the nursing homes do. The hospitals also pay for it and then you get better pay AND benefits.
References :
Ask your local nursing homes if they have this program. Otherwise your local technical school should offer a class.
