It all depends on where you go. It can range from as low as $8.00 an hour to maybe $15.00 an hour. My advice would be that you go all the way and at least get your RN there is more money there. If you don't have the patience get both CNA and Medical Assistant degrees and in such little time and make better money. Look for work in a clinic associated with a hospital and earn seniority and hopefully work and get education paid for by employer to further your career.

ok i was hired with the title of medical assistant. i am working on my psychology degree and i do everything the doctor doesnt have time to do. i only make 8.50 an hour, but im sure with formal training and a piece of paper behind me that i could make way way way more money doing the exact same thing....medical assisting seems to be a very generic kinda title, it would vary greatly

I've heard that there are not a lot of jobs for medical assistants and that they get paid on the lower end of the salary scale.

If you do decide to go for the training, please do yourself a favor and enroll in a program offered thru the local county vo-tech school or community college (probably non-credit courses) as opposed to those private schools that cost thousands of dollars. And those 'online schools' are not considered reputable by employers including penn foster and stratford career institute, just fyi. Good luck to you and it's great that you are doing your homework

i'm going to school to become a medical assitant im almost done, they make about 30,000 a year but it all just depends on where u work ie doctors office, hospital other healthcare facilty
